Content with purpose

Hello, I’m Ruth MacGilp. I collaborate with purpose-driven brands, publications and non-profits to develop engaging content and campaigns about the intersection of fashion and sustainability.

What I do

After two years as Fashion Revolution’s Communications Manager, I have joined Action Speaks Louder as their new Fashion Campaign Manager. This role is all about holding major brands accountable, focusing on the do-say gap that exposes weak climate promises and greenwashed marketing which conceal the industry’s dirty supply chain.

Alongside this exciting new project, I also co-host an ethical fashion podcast called Common Threads. Read my latest articles, and explore my blog, Instagram and newsletter to find out more.

Who I am

I have worked with dozens of clients within the fashion and lifestyle sectors, specialising in small sustainable brands. As a content creator, I’ve collaborated with brands such as Body Shop, Dylon, Boots, Organic Basics, Ecover, Clothes Doctor, Wuka, Lucy & Yak, Oxwash, Lush, Onloan, Abel and Nordgreen. My writing has been featured in publications like Cosmopolitan, Vogue Business, Reuters, Good On You, The Independent, Eco-Age, The Flock and Refinery29. I also speak on panels and host talks and workshops for organisations like Smiley Movement, Tortoise, Hubbub, UNEP, Lone Design Club, Buro 155, Marguerite London, The Collective, and universities across the UK and US. I regularly take part as a guest on podcasts and Instagram live conversations too - email me for more information.

“Ruth was so approachable right from our first meeting. She listened to me, and she understood what my brand was all about straight away.”

Elizabeth Martin, fashion designer
