Campfire Session 002: Cymatics with Richard Jahn
Last week I was invited to Campfire Session 002, a live music performance and light installation by Edinburgh-based creative studio Campfire at Printworks Studios in Leith. Inspired by the theme of fluidity, form, colour and cymatics, this unique experience featured an exclusive debut session with Richard Jahn , experimental London-based songwriter, DJ and producer.
After a while of mingling with local creatives in an old printworks, within a large dark room of exposed brick, and screens filled with colourful projections, the debut live performance by the insanely talented young musician Richard Jahn began alongside a live, reactive light and film installation by Campfire, taking part 360 degrees around the intimate audience.
Visualising vibrations and sound through lighting, large-format led video wall, and lasers, this live-streamed, immersive installation which was a one-off will not be repeated again, so it was incredible to be there. Richard Jahn has immediately been added to my Spotify, and I would recommend his music to anyone interested in the experimental but still totally catchy and boogie-worthy tracks performed by a talented artist who played about 10 different instruments at once, it was incredible.
