Edinburgh International Fashion Festival 2016

Last night I attended the launch of the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival, a week of educational and creative fashion events at various city venues, run by Anna Fremantle for the fifth year running. The Fashion Festival Opening Reception with Gianni Scumaci was a 2 hour event, including drinks and a browse round the photography exhibition, a talk by Gianni about hairdressing as a social concept and some inspirational anecdotes, as well as interviews with industry experts.

Scumaci is a third generation London hairdresser who has become stylist to the stars, regularly collaborating with Vogue, i-D, David Bailey, Tim Walker, Stella Tenant (Picture on left) and so many more, including his most recent project with Sink The Pink

The second half of his talk, and the surrounding exhibition, at The Image Collective in Ocean Terminal, was about a photoshoot he styled 4 men from this eccentric, cross-dressing performance collective. It focussed on how he created, developed and discovered their inner characters and brought them out in a visual way.

Read on to see my picks of the upcoming events of the fashion festival!
