Exploring Studio Five A/W 17
Anyone who's a long time reader will know that I've been obsessed with sustainable Scottish fashion brand Studio Five since day one, and now over a year old, the label's Edinburgh based founders Lucy and Kitty Pressland have launched their A/W 17 collection, Wilderness, and recruited me to help promote it!
'Wilderness’ is a celebration of autumnal, bold colours combined with sharp-edged lines and quirky animal illustrations found up in the mountains. The designs tell stories of animals like bears, mountain lions and hares crossing paths. This collection is a step up from the last as the brand is taking bigger risks in so far as the colour combinations as well us upgrading products such as the makeup bags, enamel pins and adding more t-shirts and cushions to the collection as well as remaining completely sustainable.
Excitingly Studio Five have also just launched a limited edition capsule collection in collaboration with Scottish knitwear designer Joanna O’Brien of knitted scarves. Each on is completely unique and hand made with 100% lambs wool by Joanna using the same colour palette as the ‘Wilderness’ Collection. There is also a beautiful range of homeware and accessories too, including cushions, makeup bags, pins, stickers and prints.
I was sent the new unisex 'Nelly Tee' in black, featuring intricate animal illustrations right on the boobs. This bad boy is only £25 and is made from 100% organic cotton, screen printed in the UK. According to its designers, "we name this the Nelly Tee after our dog who looks like a big brown bear. She brings us joy so we hope this t-shirt bring you joy too!"
I styled the top quite simply, in my favourite colour palette, all black ofc, with some high waisted vintage leather trousers, a black trench stolen from my boyfriend, majorly oversized abstract earrings which I recently impulse-bought at the H&M counter, and the finishing touch, a mini Studio Five logo pin badge on the lapel! I also got some adorable animal postcards which I shall be adding to my inspiration postcard wall in my study!
You can catch the girls and their new clobber at the I.D Pop-up Store at The Lighthouse, Glasgow: Sat 2nd - Sun 3rd December, and Sat 16th - Sun 17th December.
Be sure to follow Studio Five on Instagram to stay in the loop; trust me, this brand is one to watch.
