Fashion Foundry 2016: Topshop Glasgow Launch
Last night, The Scottish Design Exchange gang had a road trip to Glasgow, one of my favourite cities and certainly the most creative and outgoing in Scotland. We were invited to the launch event for The Fashion Foundry, which took place at Topshop on Argyle street (after-hours shopping is always exciting!), because our very own Piotr Pyrchala, fashion designer at contemporary label Birds Of Prayers, has won the prestigious prize of an opportunity to be a part of the project.
This is a new initiative that supports young Scottish fashion designers in building their brand, including one-to-one mentoring, a free shared studio space with tonnes of expert equipment, and lots of amazing networking and marketing opportunities. The Fashion Foundry is a collaboration between Creative Scotland, the Cultural Enterprise Office, Wasps studios and Topshop/Topman.
As you can see above, the studio space is absolutely lush, and is shared by Deadsleekit, Rachel McMillan, Barbra Kolasinski, and of course Birds of Prayers. I absolutely fell in love with all the clothes from this talented bunch, especially this suede and sequin bomber jacket by Rachel McMillan! (please excuse the selfie!)
Overall, it was a great night and we are all really excited to see what these incredible local designers come up with next, and congratulate them all for winning too! See more posts about Scottish fashion designers here
