Fashion Revolution Edinburgh with Colour Elements
I support Fashion Revolution because despite numerous disasters that exemplify the state of the fashion industry, change is still far too slow and we can only make progress with a united movement. Its brilliant to see the project gain momentum here in Scotland as well as worldwide. I think Edinburgh is the perfect place for a Fashion Revolution event because we have a thriving creative community that really cares about ethics. The fashion industry here is growing and as it grows, each step of the way we need to consider sustainability as the number one priority.
Last week I met with Maggie from Colour Elements, a 'sustainable style' colour ID company based here in Edinburgh encouraging fashion fans to only buy into what they truly love. As well as telling me all about what the company does and sharing stories of studying fashion comunication, we discussed the importance of sustainable fashion and what we can do to make a difference and how Scotland can get more involved in the Fashion Revolution movement.
Colour Elements are organising the event as they have done in previous years, but this time bringing together Scotland's likeminded talents and brands and celebrating ethical fashion in a contemporary way. During Fashion Revolution Week (24th-30th April) and beyond, 50% of every online Colour iD purchased over the month of April will be donated to the Fashion Revolution charity. Providing colour analysis through email allows them to offer the service at a cost effective price of £10, but this month each Colour iD purchase will allow Colour Elements to give £5 to the Fashion Revolution charity, so your carbon footprint eases off as you keep wearing those gorgeous colours of clothes plus you’re helping fashion production methods become more sustainable. That’s a WIN WIN WIN!
The event will include a screening of Alex James' film "Slowing Down Fast Fashion", a live panel discussion and Q&A session featuring ethical fashion experts, and an open marketplace for local fashion brands to showcase and sell. You'll definetely see me there drooling over Nu Blvck ethical fashion accessories, and possibly ranting on the panel too! The best part is that the event is completely free to attend, but remember to reseve your space by heading to Eventbrite.
