New Edinburgh Bobbi Brown Flagship Store and Salon

This time last week I attended one of the best blogger events I've been to this year (my favourites have got to be the Deliveroo 1st Birthday Party,  Hunted Vintage SS16 launch and the Barburrito Burrito Masterclass!), the launch party for the brand new Edinburgh flagship Bobbi Brown store on George Street. I was really excited to attend as I've always really loved Bobbi Brown make-up and skincare products, not only for their foolproof contents but for the stunning packaging. The store itself is decorated and styled to complete brand perfection, and on the night the room was filled with giant balloons and streamers, as well as a female DJ, Prosecco, canapés, goodie bags and even a Haig Club whisky bar, whats not to love?

Growing up, my Grandma and aunt always sung the highest praises to Bobbi Brown, loving how the foundations and lip colours catered to pretty much every skin tone, and building genuine friendships with the girls at the Bobbi Brown concession in Debenhams because they went in so often for product top-ups and make-up lessons! So I think its always been instilled in me that the brand is reliable, and like my aunt and grandmother, very high fashion, but this event really gave me a fresh perspective, as well as just a really enjoyable evening. All the staff were incredibly friendly, considering it was a typical hot and sticky chaotic Edinburgh Festival day, and made all the guests feel super welcome. On arrival i was offered a drink and shown around the store, as well as being talked though some of the products and being introduced to the PR people, who were also fantastic.

The highlight of my evening however was getting a makeover from a talented MUA, Jacqueline. She was absolutely great at picking out colours that suited me, and giving me some skincare tips too (apparently, most Scots are not moisturising enough!). I fell in love with the new Luxe Lip Color lipsticks, a new vibrant, highly pigmented range of moisturising formulas that keep your lips well conditioned even after removal. I restrained myself from shopping on the night as the goodie bag was filled with gorgeous Bobbi Brown treats, like the classic rouge lipstick, long-wear gel eyeliner, and vitamin-enriched face base, but I did pop in yesterday to buy myself a new highlighter, the cult light-reflecting, shimmery Pink Glow Highlighting Powder.

The new Edinburgh free-standing store is designed to bring the now New York cosmetics brand to life, and empower women with the Bobbi Brown movement; believing that the secret to beauty is simply embracing who you are. The shop emits a warm, welcoming atmosphere, despite the high-fashion, glossy appearance, party due to the huge number of make-up counters ('the communal artistry table') with dedicated MUAS, centred around communicating with customers to find their natural fit. In addition, they offer services such as bridal make up, brow shaping, private lessons, make up parties, and even a 'Bobbi Brown Pro' scheme where MUAs and beauty students can become a member of the new program and receive discounts.

Decades after the debut of her brand, make up artist Bobbi continues to define the way women wear makeup and the way they see themselves, inspired by her belief that “all women are pretty without makeup, but with the right makeup can be pretty powerful”. Overall, for make-up junkies and natural beauties alike, visiting the new Bobbi Brown studio in Edinburgh is less of a boring retail trip and more of a complete lifestyle experience. Learn techniques from the experts, refresh in the hydration corner, flick through some classic Bobbi Brown books, chat with the wonderful staff, and maybe come out with a game-changing make up product, who knows?
