How to Stand Out on Instagram

Do you remember the days when an iPhone picture of your lunch with a black frame and the Valencia filter could get you dozens of likes and comments from all your on and offline friends? Or when a couple of blurry nightclub selfies could keep thousands of followers happy? Sadly, those days of Instagram being 'easy' are long gone, and recently, with endless algorithm updates and an expanding influencer sphere, it can be harder than ever to stand out.

Instagram has become THE platform for bloggers, influencers and all kinds of creatives online (do your worst, Vero), and no matter how you may feel about the network- let's be honest, it can often feel like a full-time job- it doesn't look like its going anywhere anytime soon! With more than 800 million active users, Instagram has can often feel like we are all very small fish in a very small sea.

So, with flatlays and #ootd shots no longer making a real impact, we need to look to the leaders and innovators out there. When's the last time you saw some real creativity in that 3x3 grid?

Here, I'm sharinga list of my favourite Instagrammers of all time for truly creative photography inspiration"

I hope you enjoy exploring these exciting new accounts to follow- and screw those who say you must have more 'followers' than 'following'- if someone creates and shares amazing images that you are drawn to, show them some love, no matter what you counts say!

For some further reading and exploration around this issue of standing out from the crowd and being creative on social media I definitely recommend staying updated with Me and Orla, a wonderful blogger, podcaster and social media powerhouse!

Now, to find some actual time to start getting experimental with my own content, thats a whole other blog post! Let me know what you think in the comments- do you think its worth pouring all this effort into a short-lived masterpiece on Instagram?
