Swish: Ethical Fashion in Edinburgh*
*this is a sponsored post
Swish is an Edinburgh boutique selling beautiful clothing and accessories from independent and ethical brands- a totally unique hidden gem in the heart of the city’s tourist district, and my new favourite local shopping spot! I decided to blog all about my experience in the Swish flagship store; read on for sustainable fashion finds and indie shopping fun!
Swish is a Scottish family business, launched in 1994 by Father and son Douglas and Luke McKinna. It has since grown across two stores, a graphic t-shirt shop on Cockburn Street (whose garments are made in their own printing warehouse on St Leonard Street), and the main boutique on Victoria Street, which is a hub of unique fashion, including menswear, womenswear and kidswear.
They stock a variety of carefully curated brands, including some of my favourite ethical and sustainable fashion labels. From Matt and Nat, the vegan and cruelty-free ‘leather’ accessories brand that makes chic, minimalist handbags and shoes, to Sugarhill Boutique, a Brighton-based label creating clothing that values people, profit and the planet equally; using organic cotton, and following a strict ethical trading and living wage policy.
Swish also stocks NÜMPH- a Danish brand that personifies Scandi-cool style, Bart’s - a company making high-quality hats in Amsterdam, and Ucon Acrobatics, a German menswear brand producing bags inspired by Utilitarian design.
There were some fabulous Christmas gift ideas in the shop, like stylish leather purses and wallets, wintry knitwear and pop culture slogan tees. What’s more, there was plenty of Christmas party outfit inspiration too, with lots of sparkles and shine on the rails, and of course wreaths, tinsel and lights on the store’s exterior. I am on the hunt for some new going-out clothes as I have a work party, my Birthday, and of course Christmas and New Year coming up scarily soon, so I was immediately drawn to a floaty forest green silk crop top by Traffic People, which I paired with a bronze metallic pleated midi skirt by NÜMPH. I also couldn’t resist trying on a sumptuously soft faux fur coat in an uncharacteristically maximalist purple and orange leopard print. What do you think?
With two floors full of a totally unique selection of clothes and accessories, and staff that truly make you feel part of their family, Swish provides a special shopping experience in Edinburgh. Find out more and shop online now at swishedinburgh.com
