All About the Accessories

Anyone that knows me or my blog knows how much I love championing Scottish fashion brands. As much as I can, I try to wear something every day from a Scotland-based designer, and when its not possible with my clothes, thats where accessories  come in. I decided to do an outfit photoshoot with my flatmate, friend and talented photographer Skye Lyon to showcase some accessories from the new collections of some great Scottish brands; Iolla, Araminta Campbell and Silk Purse Sow's Ear.

Spring is really tough season of dressing well for me. I never know what to wear; I'm definately a winter girl (love me some big coats and fluffy jumpers) or a summer girl (pretty dresses please), but I hate the transition period, expecially here in Scotland where the weather is totally unpredictable. The one item I can totally count on is my classic Aquascutum trench coat from Mr Ben's, a vintage shop in Glasgow. Its cool and light but still wind and waterproof. Plus it makes me feel like a Burberry girl. I've paired it here with an old plain t-shirt, vintage leather trousers, and some topshop lace-up shoe boots, all in black so I could let the accessories shine.

For the sunglasses, I've gone for the new collection from Iolla, a Glasgow based eyewear brand and fellow Herald Fashion Awards winners last year. I opted for the Murray shape (each design is named after a famous Scot!) in a brown tortoisehell. For the handbag, I chose a simple foldover clutch bag in bespoke tweed by the talented Edinburgh weaver Araminta Campbell, and for jthe necklace, I picked a world map locket pendant in teal and gold from Scottish jewellery brand SIlk Purse, Sow's Ear. What do you think of the look?
