My Favourite Scottish Bloggers, from Fashion to Food
January can be such a downer of a month for blogging, what with the dark and gloomy days that lead outfit and product shoots to be a real struggle, engagement and reach on a downward trend, and FOMO/feelings of inadequacy at an all time high- especially if like me you follow beautiful rich travel and fitness influencers as you sit in your damp flat in Scotland with a tub of Lidl 'Pringles'.
So, that makes it the perfect time to share the love with my top ten favourite Scottish bloggers, from ten different niches with ten totally unique styles! Here are the blogs I'm finding joy in this month, and why you should too..
For fashion | Kingdom of Style
Kingdom of Style is a fashion and lifestyle blog written by a pair of lifelong friends, Michelle and Marie. It started way back in 2006 and was one of the originators of modern blogging and the first ever Scottish fashion blog. The renowned duo helped pioneer blogging as you know it, and inspired many bloggers you know and love today. Both work in the creative industries by day and have a passion for style and creativity in all it's many guises, and the blog has won several fashion influencer awards. Follow KoS for Michelle's killer avante garde outfits, and stay for the dark arts, alternative interiors and intriguing lingerie.
For beauty | The Wednesday Edit
The Wednesday Edit is a luxury lifestyle site that focuses on the simplicity of all things beautiful, written by Mollie Rose, a 20-something blogger who fights passionately for woman's rights, social issues and has a deep love for beauty and fashion. The Wednesday Edit isn't just a site for fashion and materialistic ideas. It's a site to relax, find something interesting to read, be inspired and empowered. You can look damn good while you go out and rule the world you know.
For lifestyle | Ayelined
Aye Lined is a blog written by the wonderrful Trona. Trona has an MA in History of Art, a toddler, husband and chronic pain. She has a passion for beauty, culture, photography and the arts. The blog began as a by-product from searching for the perfect Wedding makeup look. It features beauty reviews, makeup, fashion, food, culture, books, art, disability, and life in general. Be sure to follow Aye Lined on Instagram for some breathtaking photography too!
For career | Twenty Something City
Writing for Twenty-Something City, the style queen Alice Cruickshank explores where to go, what to eat, and most importantly how to stay stylish, while also writing about stuff that really matters when you’re in your 20s. On this active lifestyle blog (and her youtube channel too!) you'll find tips for styling looks on a budget and careers advice for ambitious twenty-somethings in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and beyond.
For photography | Brass Buttons and Confidence
New mum and Scottish blogging stalwart Sarah Ferguson uses photoshop so creatively you'll think it's bloody magic. Sarah shares content about her life in the Borders, her beautiful family, product reviews, recipes and more in this addictive and aesthetically pleasing lifestyle blog, Brass Buttons and Confidence .
For travel | The Little Things
The Little Things is an Edinburgh based travel and lifestyle blog following the adventures of city life in Edinburgh to the heart of the Scottish Highlands and beyond by the lovely Louise Brown since 2014. Follow herr travels around the world as she aims to tick each destination off an ever growing list; everywhere from the neon streets of Tokyo, to Arizona‘s Wild West.
For food | Vegan Edinburgh
Vegan Edinburgh is a new blogging venture by foodie extraodinaire Emma, a vegan whose favourite pastime is eating out in Scotland’s fine capital (It’s surprisingly easy to be a vegan in Edinburgh!) Follow Emma as she eats her way around the city’s top cruelty-free dishes, from places ranging from exclusively vegan restaurants to omnivore cafes and bars. Get ready to salivate at her drool-worthy food photography!
For culture | Bee Waits for No One
For all things feminist and fashionable, Bee Waits a.k.a Claire Stuart is the rainbow haired Glasgow girl to have on your blogging radar. She describes herself as a fashion blogger, feminist, aspiring cat lady and pop culture savant; and her personal, honest, thoughtful and very sassy writing style with have you hooked from the first word, trust me.
For family | Oranges and Apples
Craft queen Franca has the sort of blog and social media feed that makes you think, how does she manage all that and still look so stylish? Oranges and Apples is her eclectic mix of DIY, fashion, body image, vintage and parenthood/family life/living and exploring with her adorable kids.
For everything else | The Quiet Resolution
Last but certainly not least are students Lynsey, Toni and Zoe, lifestyle blogging team behind The Quiet Resolution, a guide to all things covetable in Edinburgh and beyond. Be sure to follow the trio on Instagram too if you love flatlays and curated colour schemes!
