Scottish Fashion Lookbook Day #1

Check out the first in my series of lookbook style shoots with Kirsty McLachlan at the National Museum of Scotland featuring designer clothing from 3 fantastic Scottish fashion brands, this time showcasing an oversized navy dress by Glasgow-based fashion designer, Piotr Pyrchala of Birds of Prayers.

The reason I wanted to shoot this dress in particular is that, although I've had it for well over a year, I relish in the rare opportunities I get a chance to wear it in all its glory; no jackets, no accessories, no distractions.

Not only is it made from thick beautiful navy jersey fabric, but it has my two favourite things in any garment: a high neck and massive pockets. And the best part? Its so oversized, warm and comfy that I almost forget it has crazy long tassels and a super sexy back detail that elevate the already stunning quality, well tailored design to a whole new level.

No way would I ever bump into anyone wearing something like this, or see anything similar in the likes of Topshop or Zara, which is exactly what drew me to it so much. Birds of Prayers is the perfect brand for finding something really different, having carved out a niche designing maticulously crafted and fitted garments that embrace a gender fluid shape and maximalist-meets-minimalist style.
