Founded in 2016 by Lucy and Kitty Pressland, Studio Five specialises in stylish, Scottish sustainability. They have worked exceptionally hard to build up a reputation for inclusive, ethical and unique high-quality products with themes that explore the natural world. The sisters follow the slow fashion ethos releasing 2 collections a year, and last week have launched their 3rd fashion and interiors collection, It’s a Dry Heat for Spring/Summer 2018.

Studio Five’s newest collection explores a place very close to their hearts, Arizona. Lucy and Kitty visit Arizona as often as possible as their older siblings, nieces and nephews live there and both have spent summers out in the dry heat! Using an abundance of photographs they have collected over the years they combined this imagery with animals you would also find out in the desert to create bold prints.

Through the development process Lucy and Kitty began to take inspiration by the 70’s era which added a retro, Americana edge to the collection. To bring authenticity to this direction Studio Five collaborated with Armstrong’s Vintage Store in Edinburgh for the collection photoshoot and look book.

Each collection they bring out a brand new product and this time it is a made to order swimsuit. As part of their custom page on the website, you can choose any of the prints featured on the website to be digitally printed and produced into your very own custom made swimsuit.Other products in the collection include organic cotton t-shirts, makeup bags, coin purses, prints, enamel pins and sticker packs!

I have always been a huge fan of Studio Five, knowing the founders personally and having seen them rise over the past two years and developed into an established ethcial fashion brand here in Scotland. I'm thrilled that the label has collaborted with Armstrong's, whose vintage and second-hand garbs make up a large percentage of both mine and my other half's wardrobes, as the retro styling of the new lookbook really complements the seventies vibe of the new t-shirts and cushions.
